When MXK Skate added me onto their sponsored team, I noticed a huge problem: Not only were they at the bottom of the search results for skate shops in their local area, but they had an absolutely god-awful website built on Shopify that couldn’t sell cheese to a mouse. I took it upon myself to create them a draft on WordPress to see if they wanted to move forward with creating a bigger, louder, more cutting edge site and we created something that is going to last for years to come. With the downhill skateboarding and longboarding industries essentially dying off, remaining current and pushing for new aisles to make sales is priority number one.
I designed the new site to accomplish a few things: integrate with their Clover POS system in the brick-and-mortar store, keep accurate track of stocks, ship to USA and Canada, and look better than any other retailer on the internet. In the course of building the site (with a few visits to the shop), the physical location was forced to close because of too-little-too-late, but that didn’t stop web production. With the new site up and running, before an announcement or even finished product photos were uploaded, the site was reporting sale increases of 300% per week.
Now acting as a team rider in long distance and the web administrator for advertising, customer relations, and social media, the goal is to stay afloat in a dying industry by continuing to provide top-notch service to the ones who care.
